I will post the question with the answer following it... first are my questions:
*If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around will it make any noise?
- I think that trees do make sound whenever they fall, to know for sure I would suggest putting a video/sound recorder in a tree and leaving it there for a while. After a while you should go retrieve it and see if a tree made noise when it fell.
*Where do gnats come from?
- Gnats seem to appear out of nowhere, but really lay their eggs on the roots of plants or actually on the plants. When you bring the fruits and vegetables in your house and the eggs hatch you have been invaded by gnats. To make sure you don't get gnats keep your house clean and wash your fruits and vegetables thoroughly.
So here are your questions and answers...

*Why does the American Education System lie to their students? For example, everyone knows the story of Columbus. Europeans wanted a faster trade route to the Spice Islands over in Asia. Portugal was controlling the waterway around Africa, and most people thought that the world was flat, so you couldn't sail straight west to reach them. But Columbus took a chance in thinking that the world was round instead of flat, sailed west, and reached the Americas. Guess what? That story is flawed. Because the Europeans didn't think that the world was flat! They knew that it was round all along! They even attempted to measure the curvature of the Earth and estimated about how large our planet is, and they came pretty close. They just had no idea that there was land in the Western Hemisphere. No one thought that the world was flat. But we're taught that anyway. Why?
- The flat earth lie was created to say that Christians were ignorant and an impediment to science. John W. Draper started this lie in his book The History of Conflict Between Religion and Science. There was a war going on between religion and science at the time and Draper wanted science to win. Draper said that Christians believed the earth was flat until proven wrong by Columbus. This was false. The Christians believed that the earth was round just like everyone else at that time. The school books picked up this lie and started teaching it. It was in fact discredited and is no longer taught in schools. Despite this fact it does still exist in some circles.
*Why do the leaves change colors in the fall?
_ The leaves are green because of the chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is used for photosynthesis and there isn't enough sun during winter for photosynthesis. So when the leaves start to turn orange, yellow, red, and brown. The orange and yellow pigments have been in the trees all year but have been covered up by the bright green. The red comes from glucose being trapped in the leaves. The sun and cool autumn nights cause the glucose to turn red. The brown coloring of some leaves is made by waste left in the tree. All of these things combined creates the beautiful fall leaf colors.
*What is the origin of the peace sign?
- The origin of the peace sign is disputable. It was once used as the logo designed by Gerald Holtom for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. He used the semaphore letters for "N" and "D". "N" was represented by a person holding two flags pointed downwards, an upside down V. The "D" was also represented by a person holding two flags, one pointed straight up and the other pointed straight down. When the two are put together they make a peace sign. The broken cross in the middle of the peace sign dates back to "Nero's Cross", or the cross that Peter was hung on. Peter said he was unworthy to die as Jesus did, so Nero, the emperor of the time, hung him upside down on a cross. Nero's cross represents death, the opposite of what the peace sign is supposed to represent.
